Reading Wednesday.
Finished Reading:
A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine. This was great. Cultural differences and politics in space, yay! I really like the idea of the imago technology so people can have the implanted memory of someone from previous generations that they match as compatible.
And I enjoyed the naming patterns for the Teixcalaani with a number and then a noun. Three Seagrass. Five Agate. I had to look up what an adze was for Nineteen Adze and it's like an axe and yeah that totally fits. Six Direction is the emperor and One Lightning is a general and my mind went, wait, is there someone named One Direction in this universe? Also, there was only a brief off-screen mention, but I would die for Thirty-Six All-Terrain Tundra Vehicle.
Now Reading:
This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone. It doesn't make sense but that's okay, I'm still interested! I was on the hold list for this for a while and I need to get it back to the library quick so good thing it's pretty short.
Up Next:
I have no idea. Any recommendations?

Date: 2019-10-04 08:16 am (UTC)Have you tried the first two in the series by Adrian Tchaikovsky? Children of Time and Children of Ruin? Apparently there'll be a third at some point, but each is stand-alone enjoyable. I really loved them, and I loved that I couldn't predict where he was taking the plot, but both times it was really satisfying.
