we are kings or pawns a man once said
Apr. 7th, 2020 06:13 pmI was rewatching The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) for vidding purposes--although I need no excuse, I rewatch this movie all the time, it's amazing. High drama paired with dry comedic hilarity, plus an amazing cast. (Either this or Frequency began my love for Jim Caviezel.) I read the book at some point after seeing the movie and I highly prefer this adaptation.
Anyway, I was rewatching it for vidding purposes and I felt the need to make this gif to share. It doesn't even do the scene justice. With fireworks exploding in the background, bassoon-heavy soundtrack blaring, he literally descends from a hot air balloon that is anchored by aerial dancers that slide down the ropes and then he makes this entrance and the only thing, THE ONLY THING he says, from a balcony, overlooking the 500 high society people of Paris that have never even met him before and show up to this party is, "Greetings." Nothing will ever eclipse this for me.
