We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. I was compelled to read this through in like 3 hours. Fascinating psychological horror, beautifully written, and keeps just enough back that I'll be thinking about it forever now. To Shirley Jackson I would like to say 'bravo' and also 'omg wtf wtf'.
Translation State by Ann Leckie. Enjoyed returning to the Radchaai 'verse. Three interesting characters and POVs that collide.
In TV, I watched Blue Eye Samurai and The Terror. I'm still obsessed with nautical stuff so next up I have a book about the lost Franklin expedition (which is what The Terror is based on) and a book about a mutiny which I think is historical and I'm continuing to read through the Aubrey/Maturin series.
And now, for the end of 2023, I am doing my annual Lord of the Rings rewatch. I'm starting a little early since I'm watching the extended editions which I don't usually. Wishing everyone a happy (almost) new year!
