The Reverse of the Medal by Patrick O'Brian. Another absolute banger. They were actually on land instead of sea for the major part of this book and it had my favorite spy side plots more central and finally, finally the climactic agent reveal seeded two books ago! These are such a slow burn.

Watching more Star Trek.

Star Trek: Lower Decks (seasons 1 - 4): I don't know why I didn't think I was going to like this, but I'm glad I tried it regardless because I was so wrong. I love it a lot. It's very fast--like sometimes I had to rewind and be like 'wait what did they say'--but it's extremely fun and it is fun in spite of me only understanding maybe half the references. Spiritual successor to Galaxy Quest where it's satirical but clearly loves the source material. I thought it was fully cancelled but I guess there is one more season coming out as a final season and I'm excited.

The Dragon Prince: Mystery of Aaravos (season 6): Took a break from my Star Trek spiral to watch this. Also thought this was a final season and was like 'wow, how are they wrapping this up in the last episode' but then it was clearly not a final season!

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (season 1): So I did continue watching this and complete season 1. Still not super invested but it's good for random watching since the episodes aren't generally a driving seasonal arc like most shows now. Some interesting space politics drama. Also I haven't looked at AO3 but if there aren't dozens of Quark/Odo fics with the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition as the backbone I would be shocked.

I watched like five minutes of Star Trek: Prodigy and I'll probably go back to it at some point.

That will change.

Btw thank you thank you for the Charles/Erik recs. If I have more than one brain cell tomorrow I will actually answer comments, but either way I'm in your debt.

After ca. 4 years watching one episode a week I'm finally close to actually finishing watching DS9 all the way through for the first time, it definitely has ups and downs but so worth it in the end.
