I upgraded to a paid account and I'm excited to have extra icon slots and the ability to do polls! I'm also excited that I've finally come out of my writing drought. Accidentally joined a new fandom and now I have 4 new WIPs. A good time for the Multifandom Plot Bunny Dust-Off Challenge melagan is hosting.

So hopefully I will finish this canon divergence/Hades & Persephone AU. It's for Shadowhunters which is another apparently hugely popular fandom that I'm years late to. .
Magnus has been in Edom for eighty six days when he hears Alec’s voice.

It can’t be anything but a dream, but when Magnus dreams about Alec they’re in New York or Tokyo or Spain. He doesn’t bring Alec to Hell with him.

“Magnus,” Alec calls again, and then he’s bursting through the doorway of Magnus’s father’s house. There are deep circles under his eyes. He looks like he’s lost a good ten pounds in weight. He’s beautiful.

Magnus doesn’t remember running but somehow he’s across the room and in Alec’s arms, clinging. Alec holds him back just as tight, his fingers welded to Magnus’s shoulder blades.

“Alexander,” Magnus breathes, even though he feels breathless. “How?”

Alec steps back out of his arms and Magunus hears himself make a sad, pathetic noise. Alec smiles and kisses him and then he lifts the hem of his shirt. There’s a new line of runes etched across Alec’s abdomen: grace, hope, love.

Magnus traces their dark overlapping curves. It shouldn’t be enough. What else, Magnus thinks, terrified. What else did you trade away? He has too much proof of Alec’s conviction. But it’s been eighty six days, eighty six days of heat lightning and lonliness, and Alec is warm beneath Magnus’s hands. There are tears clinging to his lashes, and Magnus loves him.


Share your thoughts on a title? It's currently just named Persephone which I feel is descriptive but also maybe too boring.

Thanks! I keep a giant list song lyrics I think might be good possible fic titles and that's been on it a long time. Definitely a maybe :)

It depends what your story arc is, the point of the story. If Alec's the Persephone character does he come and go? In legend Persephone's trapped in the underworld half the time, but I guess you could reverse that and have him torn away from Magnus for half the year instead to do nephilim stuff (I know zilch about the fandom, just read it up quickly on Fanlore). I like "this two star town" but it has a ring of showbiz or I dunno, restaurant or hotel grading, and am not sure if that makes sense for the fic. Another image might be the pomegranate seeds, so something with Seed in the title (Seeds of xxx, etc.) Or something about duality, the two worlds which presumably Alex has to move between whereas Magnus stays "below".

I would totally consider something with pomegranate imagery, that's definitely the image that sticks from the mythology. I think this two star town is also workable in the sense of hotel grading because the Hell dimension seen in the show is the setting for the fic and it definitely does not deserve a higher rating than that.
