Full disclosure, one of my main reasons for watching Salvation is Santiago Cabrera. He's very charming. But also the whole 'an asteroid is headed for Earth and we need a plan to save ourselves' is a trope I very much enjoy. I've watched Armageddon many, many times. One of my very favorite fics is A Really Private Person by [archiveofourown.org profile] astolat which is an amazing Person of Interest fic where Finch uses the Machine to save the world from an asteroid. And this reminds me I was going to read a book I think was called The Last Policeman with an asteroid collision plot but focused on a policeman still trying to do his job when society has totally broken down. I need to look that up again.

Anyway, I roll my eyes at a lot of the interpersonal drama but sometimes it also gives me really nice moments like last Monday's episode where Darius hugs both his intrepid new protege and previous resentful protege and they're all in it together against the external conflict.

Season 1 is streaming on Amazon Prime and season 2 is on live TV now because I guess it's a summer show. I signed up for a free 7 day trial of the weird CBS All Access channel to catch up on season 2 but then I forgot to cancel it, which is probably part of the business model, and now I've paid for that until October so I need to see what else I might want to watch. I should maybe go with Star Trek: Discovery but I'll probably end up trying the apparently polarizing MacGyver reboot.

Still the SGA fic. I'm at that point where I've written enough that I don't want to give up on it but I've started to get bored with it and if I don't finish it quickly it will never get finished.
